指在事物之間輪流，或人們輪流做某事。也可以指替代別人完成任務的人。

常用於指事物或人輪流出現，如體育比賽中的輪換球員。名詞用於代表「替補」或「候補」時很常見。不要與「alternative（另一種選擇）」混淆。
