Definition

誰かを非常に驚かせて、考えることもできないほど怖がらせること。

日常会話で使う強調表現。「That scared me out of my mind.」の形でよく使われる。軽い驚きには使わず、かなり強い怖さを表す。同じ意味に「scare to death」もある。

The loud noise scared me out of my mind.

大きな音で**気が狂いそうなほど怖かった**。
