Definition

소유자의 동의 없이 공식적 또는 군사적 목적으로 물건이나 차량 등을 강제로 가져가는 것.

대부분 '권위', '군대', '정부'와 함께 공식적으로 사용됨. '빌리다'보다 훨씬 강제적이며 동의 없이 뺏는 의미임. 일상적으로 빌릴 때는 사용하지 않음.

The army commandeered several vehicles for the mission.

군대가 임무를 위해 여러 대의 차량을 **징발했다**.

Police can commandeer a building in an emergency.
