水と混ぜて使う絵の具、またはその絵の具で描かれた絵のこと。紙に描くことが多い。

通常は複数形（watercolors）で使われる。『paint with watercolors』（水彩で描く）、『a set of watercolors』（水彩絵の具セット）などの表現がある。アクリル絵の具や油絵の具とは異なるので注意。
