যেদিক থেকে বাতাস আসে, সে দিকে বা বাতাসের উল্টো দিকে।

সাধারণত নৌকা চালানো, ফ্লাইং বা পরিবেশ বিজ্ঞানে ব্যবহৃত হয়। 'downwind' বিপরীত অর্থে ব্যবহৃত হয়। 'stand upwind' মানে ধোঁয়া এড়াতে বাতাসের দিকের দিকে দাঁড়ানো।
