常見於兩種主要用法：實體的「標誌、路牌、招牌」，以及抽象的「跡象、徵兆」。「signs of ...」非常常見，如 'signs of stress'、'signs of rain'。不要和動詞第三人稱單數 'signs'（簽名）混淆。
