गंभीर होना, मज़ाक या खेल नहीं; यह भी दिखाने के लिए कि कुछ कितना महत्वपूर्ण या गंभीर है।

मुख्यतः औपचारिक या सामान्य संदर्भों में। आमतौर पर 'the seriousness of the situation' जैसी अभिव्यक्ति में मिलता है। आम बातचीत में व्यक्ति के लिए नहीं कहते ('serious' रखें)। 'Severity' (तीव्रता/कड़ी) से अलग है।
