누군가에게 공식적으로 인사하거나 안부를 전할 때 사용하는 표현으로, 주로 편지나 이메일 같은 서면에서 사용됩니다.

매우 격식 차린 표현으로 일상 대화에서는 거의 사용하지 않습니다. 주로 편지나 공식 이메일의 서두에서 사용되고, 평소에는 'hello'나 'greetings'로 대체됩니다.
