긴 형태로 도드라져 나온 선이나 융기된 부분. 산, 물건, 피부 등 다양한 표면에서 나타난다.

'능선'은 주로 산의 긴 융기를 의미하지만, 잎, 동전, 손끝의 돌기 등에도 쓰인다. 'peak'(정상)과 헷갈리지 않도록 주의.

There are snowy ridges on the mountain.

산에는 눈이 덮인 **능선**이 있다.
