अनचाहे हिस्सों को हटाकर काटा या छांटा गया, आमतौर पर पौधों या पेड़ों के लिए इस्तेमाल होता है। रूपक में यह संपादन या छोटे करने के लिए भी इस्तेमाल होता है।

अधिकतर बागवानी में इस्तेमाल होता है ('pruned branches', 'pruned trees')। तकनीकी या संपादन में 'pruned list' यानी सूची घटाना भी होता है। 'trimmed' (सिर्फ सजा-संवार) से अलग, 'pruned' में हमेशा सुधार का मकसद होता है।
