주로 정신적 용기와 관련 있을 때 쓰며, 신체적 용기에는 쓰지 않음. 'pluck up the courage/nerve/strength' 형태로 자주 나오며, 다음에 'to+동사'가 따라옴. 영국식 영어에서 더 자주 보임.
