التعريف

何かの後ろからこっそり、または少しだけ外を見ること、または何かが少し現れること。

小さく控えめな動作や、隠れていたものが少しだけ見える場面でよく使います。「from behind」「through」などと一緒に使うことが多いです。「look out」とは意味が違います。

A little cat peeped out from under the bed.

小さな猫がベッドの下から**そっとのぞいた**。

She saw the sun peep out from behind the clouds.

彼女は雲の合間から太陽が**ちらりと顔を出す**のを見た。

A child peeped out the door to see who was there.

子供が誰がいるか見ようとドアから**そっとのぞいた**。
