কিছু চুপ করানো বা শোনা না যাওয়ার মতো করা, বিশেষ করে ইলেকট্রনিক ডিভাইস। বিশেষণ হিসাবে, এমন কাউকেও বোঝায় যে কথা বলতে পারে না।

ملاحظات الاستخدام (Bengali)

'Mute' ক্রিয়া ('to mute the TV') ও বিশেষণ ('a mute person')—দুটিতেই ব্যবহৃত হয়। ইলেকট্রনিক্সে সাময়িকভাবে শব্দ বন্ধ করতে বোঝায়। এখন কাউকে 'mute' বলা এড়ানো উচিত; 'nonverbal' বা 'unable to speak' ব্যবহার করা ভালো।
