أصغر وحدة في المركب الكيميائي تحتفظ بخصائصه الكيميائية، وتتكون من ذرتين أو أكثر مرتبطتين معاً.

يُستخدم أحياناً بشكل مجازي بمعنى 'كمية ضئيلة' (مثل 'not a molecule of truth'). تراكيب شائعة: "water molecules"، "DNA molecules".
