民兵

一般市民が軍隊のように組織され、地域の防衛や紛争に参加する武装集団で、公式な軍隊には属していません。

「民兵」はほとんど複数形で使われ、正規軍に属さない自発的な武装組織を指します。ニュースや歴史の話でよく出てきます。「army（軍隊）」や「military（軍）」とは区別してください。
