'Mausoléu' é um termo formal e arquitetônico. Costuma se referir a túmulos grandes e acima do solo, não sepulturas comuns. Exemplos famosos: Taj Mahal e Mausoléu de Lenin. Não confunda com 'túmulo' (mais amplo) ou 'cripta' (subterrâneo, geralmente menor).
