'listened' হলো 'listen' (শোনা)-এর অতীতকাল। এটি বোঝায় কেউ মনোযোগ দিয়ে কিছু শুনেছে বা কারো কথা শুনেছে।

'listen' মানে সচেতনভাবে মনোযোগ দিয়ে শোনা। 'hear' শুধু শব্দ পাওয়া বোঝায়। 'listened to' ব্যবহার করতে হয়, যেমন: 'music', 'me', 'instructions'। অতীতে ব্যবহার করলে 'to' ব্যবহার অপরিহার্য: 'She listened to the teacher'।
