何かを強く、何度も求めたり、自分の意見や要求を曲げずに主張すること。

通常は中立的ですが、しつこい場合は頑固な印象を与えます。『at someone's insistence』は「～の強い要望で」、『with insistence』は「強く主張して」という意味で使われます。意見・リクエスト・行動に使われ、物理的な要求にはあまり使いません。

Her insistence on doing things her way surprised everyone.
