書類で本人の承認や同意を示すために名前の頭文字だけを書くこと。通常、正式なサインの代わりに使われます。

法務やビジネス文書でよく使われ、全ての署名欄ではなく修正や承認で簡単にイニシャルを書く場合に用いられる。“initial here” の指示も注意。
