Bir silahı veya ateşli silahı birine veya bir şeye doğru ateşlemek anlamına gelir. Genellikle polis veya askeri durumlarda kullanılır.

Genelde askeri veya polis kullanımıdır. Bir hedefe silahla ateş etmek için kullanılır; 'ateş yakmak' anlamı yoktur.
