누군가의 생각이나 의견을 직접적으로 묻지 않고 은근하게 알아보는 것. 분위기를 살피는 데 자주 쓰임.

비공식적 상황에서 주로 사용하며, 바로 묻기보다 분위기를 파악할 때 쓴다. 'feel out the situation', 'feel someone out'와 같이 많이 나옴.

Let me feel out the group before we decide.

결정하기 전에 먼저 그룹 분위기를 **떠볼게**.

She tried to feel out her boss about a possible promotion.
