التعريف

상대방 번호를 눌러 전화를 걸거나, 예전 방식대로 전화선을 이용해 인터넷에 연결하는 것을 뜻함.

요즘은 별로 쓰이지 않는 표현이며, '다이얼업 인터넷'은 느린 인터넷을 의미함. 동사로는 흔히 목적어와 함께 사용됨('dial up a number'). 일상에서는 'dial up the volume'과 같이 비유적으로 쓰이기도 함.
