Genellikle ağaçların kesilmesi anlamında kullanılır, çevreyle ilgili tartışmalarda sıkça geçer. 'Chop down a tree' ifadesi özellikle ağacı devirmek anlamındadır. 'Cut down' daha genel, 'chop down' ise daha kuvvetli vurma anlamı taşır.
