मुख्यतः अनौपचारिक या साहित्यिक संदर्भों में प्रयोग होता है। "chancing it" या "chancing your luck" जैसे वाक्यों में आम है। 'taking a chance' से कम आम है। अच्छे या बुरे दोनों नतीजों के लिए इस्तेमाल होता है।
