무언가에 반복해서 세게 부딪히는 것. 주로 바람, 비, 파도가 표면에 부딪힐 때 사용.

주로 자연 현상(파도, 비 등)에 사용. 사람이 누군가를 때리는 의미로는 거의 안 씀. 서술적, 문학적 표현에서 자주 등장.
