A screen is the flat surface on a phone, computer, TV, or in a movie theater where images appear. It can also mean a partition or cover that separates, hides, or protects something.

Most commonly, 'screen' means a device display: 'phone screen', 'computer screen', 'big screen'. In some varieties of English, 'screen' can also mean to show a film ('The movie is screening tonight') or to check/test someone ('screen applicants'). Don't confuse it with 'monitor', which usually refers to the whole computer display device, not just the surface.
